Ok, well while we seem to be in a bit of a slump here, Kyle has actually managed to trade for a house!! So this means we're no longer "racing him to his goal", but we're going to keep this thing going and see how far we can get it...

Something kind of interesting happened today while I was walking down Queen st. in Toronto on my way to work. Everyday I see something weird, obviously today this was the thing, which is cool because on the subway downtown to meet some friends of mine for lunch I saw twin 40 year old women wearing matching outfits on the subway...yeah really weird, and they were kind of scraggly spinster/cat lady type women, so i thought that would be it for the day...nope.

The next bit here, and 2nd weird thing links up with this site. I was out at lunch with my friend's Sarah and Elizabeth and was telling them about the red paperclip site and the current trade Kyle was at, which was A day with Alice Cooper. Well guess who I passed on the sidewalk an hour later as I was headed to work? Alice Cooper! He was walking along talking to a ladyfriend of his and they walked by me and into The Gap. Weird coincidence, I'm not a super huge fan of his per se, but someone else pointed out who I'd just brushed by. He said "Do you know who that was?" and I said "Ummm who?"
Him: "That was Alice Cooper"
Me: "Really?....cool!"
Him: "Sorry, I just had to share that with someone! That's so awesome!"
Me: "Hey, I'm glad you did, that was neat. Anyway take it easy dude."
Him: "Later."

Now had I been thinking I probably should have gone into the Gap and asked him about the trading thing, and mentioned that we're doing the same thing and the weird coincidence that I was just talking about it within the hour... but I WASN'T thinking until I was about 4 blocks down the street, and then it was too late.

We've now traded up our bag of beads for a fantastic bar of handcrafted, scented soap courtesy of Jamie-Lou and Nicolicious Soaps. Anyone looking for some wonderful soap to impress house guests and leave them smelling SWEET?? I've been told that these soaps have poppyseeds in them to help with exfoliation. I

email us if you're interested in trading for some soap! It looks awesome and smells great! (I got Grape/Poppyseed and Sweetest Grass 'flavours', one for the trade, and an extra one for me) I'll let you pick the flavour and keep the other.

Update: Within an hour of being posted up on MySpace we now have two, that's right, TWO offers for the beads.

This afternoon Jess, Sarah, and Malumir came to visit me here in Toronto, and no...Jess didn't remember to bring any of the things she had offered up for the paperclip...BUT she did have something in her purse that was both bigger, and to the right person, better! She had a bag full of beads and a seashell, perfect for making jewlery!!

Dave wasn't able to make it down for the trade this time, which kind of sucks cause it was the first one, but it happens he'll definitely be there the next time. I did get a photo of the transaction to finalize the deal.

Dave and I now have a bag of beads and a seashell we'd like to trade YOU! If you promise to trade with us we'll come and trade, so long as it's bigger or better than a bag full of beads and a seashell!

We've had some progress! We had a bunch of offers from various people who read the bulliten i put up on www.myspace.com offering up stuff like a blank cd, a styrofoam cup, a bigger black paperclip of the same style but I think so far the best offer has been from my friend Jess sent me an email from up north and has offered us "...like a coffee mug or a pair of shoes...orrrr...well we have lots of barn cats..." hmmmmm not too bad! I'd say any of those qualify as better than a paperclip in MY books at least. So since she's promised to trade us something, and the things she mentioned all seem like things we could uptrade I think this is the most worthwhile route to go. She also lives under an hour away this works out well!
Now we just have to arrange to go meet up with her and finalize the trade with a photo!

Hello everyone! Welcome to our FANCY Website. We are, as explained by my friend Graeme, trying to trade this FANCY paper-clip for just about anything (except red paper clips.) We plan to keep trading until we end up with a FANCY House and/or FANCY Island. We plan on Racing Kyle who has his own site and gave us the idea (www.oneredpaperclip.com)
He actually, on his site challenged others to do the same... and we love challeneges so here we are! We are definately going to be the first to trade for a house... he may have a head start, but our Savvy Marketing skills and good looks are a sure win! ... If you are reading this Kyle, you can visit our house anytime when we get it! To anyone else reading this... the Trading floor is officially open!

Ok, so here's the deal. I was sitting at work and my friend Dave sends me this link: oneredpaperclip So I think, "great! something to cure my crippling boredom". The more I read, the more intrigued I became and when Dave said "you should do something like that!" I thought "yeah...I should...". So here's what I figured:

If this Kyle fellow is going to trade one red paperclip for a "house or and island, or a house on an island" then I could probably trade a slightly FANCIER paper clip for a slightly FANCIER house or island, and with the help of Dave we'll probably have TWICE as much fun doing it!!! AND... we should probably RACE HIM as well!

So that's the plan. Dave and I will attempt to challenge this goal of trading for something awesome, like a house or one of those custom islands in U.A.E., and obviously it will lead to at least a summer full of adventure if not more.

So without further ado, here it is:

I'd like to trade this for something bigger and/or better, anything really, as long as it in turn can be traded until our goal is reached.
